Gelatin-Based Film Integrated with Copper Sulfide Nanoparticles for Active Packaging Applications

Gelatin-based multifunctional composite films were prepared by reinforcing various amounts of copper sulfide nanoparticles (CuSNP, 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 wt %), the effect CuSNP on film was evaluated analyzing its physical antibacterial properties. makes a compatible with gelatin. The inclusion significantly enhanced UV blocking, mechanical strength, water vapor barrier properties gelatin film. 1.0 % or less did not affect transparency When mixed, hydrophilicity change noticeably, but thermal slightly increased. Moreover, gelatin/CuSNP presented effective activity against E. coli some L. monocytogenes. Gelatin/CuSNP better functional can be used for food packaging biomedical applications.
